Always replace glow plugs as a set and torque to 20 Nm; over-tightening will snap the element in the head. Post-glow operation is supported, which keeps combustion stable during warm-up and reduces emissions. Sheath diameter is 5.0mm and resistance is approximately 1.2 ohms at ambient temperature. A failed glow plug commonly shows as hard starting below ten degrees and a flashing coil light on the dash. The Ceramic element reaches operating temperature in around 5 seconds, cutting cold-start smoke and cranking time.
